Dr. Samir P. Macwan, MD
Dr. Samir P. Macwan is ABPN Board Certified in both Neurology and Neuromuscular Medicine. He is on medical staff at Eisenhower Health where he served as a section chief of Neurology between 2012 to 2015. He is involved in teaching internal medicine residents,family medicine residents and sports medicine fellows at Eisenhower Health. He is a neuromuscular site director for neurology residency at California University of Science and Medicine.
Prior to completing an Internal Medicine internship at New York Medical College Dr. Macwan did a research fellowship in Headache/Cranial Neuralgia at University of Southern California. He performed a residency and fellowship at University of Kansas Medical Center. He has been trained under internationally acclaimed neuromuscular expert Dr. Richard Barohn.
Dr. Macwan has been practicing Neuromuscular Medicine in the Greater Palm Springs area for 15 years. He is a member of MG care as well as a speaker at the national meeting of Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America. He is also on the advisory board of Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of California. He moderates and speaks at support groups for MG patients and caregivers. He has been involved in research of Myasthenia Gravis, CIDP, Multifocal Motor Neuropathy and Inflammatory Myositis.
Dr. Macwan is professionally trained in performing botulinum toxin injections in limb spasticity, cervical dystonia/focal dystonias,chronic migraine,sialorrhea and facial spasm.
